Violin At Night
Jul. 4th, 2011 04:50 pmAnd I am now back in Portland...*whew*. What a crazy trip! ...and then tomorrow or the next day I start heading BACK down the coast.. to visit my beloved Redwoods, and then even more beloved friends. It was SO nice having another driver this trip ( one of the people I'm staying with...Lindsay.. also came with). She's WHY we even decided to just go to the ball this year instead of waiting and planning for next year. Heh. Hooray for adventures with friends! It's amazing... the 15 hour drive felt like nothing... and being able to sleep while someone else drove was pure bliss.
OH! And ... because that is just how my life seems to work... I was able to attend the Anime Expo in LA on Sunday... Found out that a dear friend of mine from New Mexico was ALSO in LA that weekend, vending there. My lovely friend Carla is an artist, specializing in dragons... she does amazing color work.. ( www.acrylicdragon.com/ ).
It turns out that the Expo was all of a mile away from our hotel room..so Sunday I headed out to see her and visit the con while Lindsay was able to go see a friend of hers that was ALSO in town that weekend. It really is amazing how things work out like that.. She had never met this person ..but has played World of Warcraft with him for years. She was able to have lunch with him and his fiance' as I chatted with Carla and wandered the con. I was able to get a few shots at the con before my camera batteries crapped out.
I've been going through and starting to edit more photos... By the end of this trip I'm going to have a month's worth of work in just editing. Sheesh.
Another shot from the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball.. I'm looking into some noise reduction software since most of these shots were done in low/minimal lighting..
Off to shower...and then to Lindsay's sister's place for smoked meat and explosions. Happy 4th everyone! ....or as the saying (sort of) goes..
