Carolina... stop bugging me

meccahiWell... It's cold. It's wet. But I have a warm trailer and cider.
One of my supply orders...that I really, really REALLY needed for this weekend...that I ordered two weeks ago...is currently being held hostage in customs, somewhere in North Dakota. Because the mailer sent all of their international packages bulk, and somewhere in that clusterfuck, there is a package with what customs is calling an invalid Tax ID #...soooo...they're holding ALL of the packages from that mailer, hostage, until the tax ID for that ONE package, is cleared up.
Fuck. Me. Does that sound ridiculous to anyone else? This is all through UPS by the way... UPS brokerage says it's "out of their hands". I call bullshit. But....I have no control in this matter, so all I can do is scrape by with what I have and pray it gets released and shipped before NEXT weekend...because if it doesn't....I'm boned. Seriously boned.
I'm flying back to AZ on the 22nd..and will be there till the 29th if anyone wants visitin' time.
I have also eaten more Halloween candy than any one person should have any right to. I've lost so much weight in the past few months I really need to STOP. Eating. The Candy. I put on a pair of pants the other day that I haven't been able to wear in over 5 years. And if I keep eating like I have been since I got to Carolina...they're not gonna fit again.
I blame the cold, wet, miserable weather. Nothing tastes quite as good as carbs when it's cold. In Maryland I was happily sprinting around site because it was beautiful out and there were people and places to see. Here all I do is sit, eat Halloween candy, and huddle next to my heater. Meh. I joined the gym down the street..bbbuuuuut have yet to go. Next week, for certain!
In other news... Hey look! Bugs!
This is a Wheel Bug. I should not have been playing with him. They are apparently, A) "The assassins of the insect world", B) secrete an enzyme that liquifies the innards of whatever bug that they have stabbed with their probiscus, and C) are also cannibalistic.
Fucking Awesome. Damn nature.... you really are scary. I found him on one of my displays last weekend... and I think I'm pretty lucky that it was freezing cold out, so he was amenable to being picked up and played with extensively WITHOUT stabbing me. ( Apparently a bite from them can take months to heal, hurts like a son of a bitch, and also leaves a nice scar as a reminder to Not Fuck With Nature ).
This little guy dropped from the ceiling of my tent, onto my shoulder, while I was wearing my Muppet-skin shawl..that was a pretty close color match to him.
No insects were harmed in the making of this blog.
I have a metric ton of work to do before the show tomorrow.. I should get back to that.
