Exit Strategy

meccahiI did it.
I actually went through with my decision and put in my two week notice, AND forwarded my intent to the owner and president of the company. I also wrote them a separate letter stating my reasons for leaving and my concerns about the issues that have been present in our department which I think they are completely unaware of.
I also ( in my resignation letter that was forwarded) put in a request to fulfill my two week obligation, because they do have that pesky tendency to just call people up and say " Turn in your badge, you're out of here now".
And apparently it wouldn't have mattered if I had put in my notice or not, because they, in a very "hush hush" way promoted ANOTHER person to lead without making it public. And also told her that she would be the lead on my shift. Which is quite funny because this person, while nice, and I like her quite a bit, still is asking other operators questions on how to do things, so promoting her could lead to a game of the blind leading the blind.
I also put in a request to our payroll person, that I would like to cash out my accrued vacation time, and if they're not bastards they'll give me the full 80 hours. But they very well COULD be bastards because I only get a full two weeks after 2 years, and I think my two year anniversary isn't until this next week. I'm not quite sure how that works out. We'll see.. it would be REALLY nice if they did give me my full 80 hours because that's approximately $1300 right there before taxes, plus my normal paycheck for this week, so another $500, and if they let me work next weekend, another $500 there.. which means not worrying about a damn thing financially for at least a couple of months. And by then Louisiana will have started and I will ( oh please please please dear gods please) have a good and profitable show.
Heh..and in an interesting side note. Told a co-worker of mine that I was putting in my notice, he just smiled and said " you're not the only one". He was planning on waiting a month, but wants to leave for the exact same reasons that I do. After he read my letter to the Higher Ups, he sent an e-mail to our department supervisor letting her know of his intent to quit as well. Maybe this will illuminate some issues that they are unaware of. Or maybe not and it will remain a cesspool of anger and politicking. In which case I'll be most glad to have left anyways. I am done.
Now on to the completely freaking out part. Yay.
