So, I still have not started packing yet...but this time completely not because of my slackerness.
I finally dragged myself away from the house and got the babycar an oil change and did some road trip stuff shopping.. trying to make sure that I get what I can.
Come home.. open the door to my room and find...
A SWARM OF BUGS!
Thousands. We're talking revelations baby. I've got the pestilence right here for ya.
And to make it worse.. they're bitey bugs. I think they're stinging gnats. I go outside to find out what the hell is up and they are covering my windows and the east wall of my house. Which is the wall to my room. They're nowhere else in the house. And apparently my old windows have a big enough gap at the bottom for these little bastards to come inside.
Now..I'm off to buy a bug bomb, some duct tape, and to do several loads of laundry to get the crawlies OUT of my clothes. And I still have yet to pack. My room is the only room with air conditioning...so I can't really sleep comfortably anywhere else. So I need to get this done.
Dear Universe. I surrender already. Crikey.
Just one more reason for me to find another place to live. I dream of a place not infested by bugs, and mold, and asbestos and wood rot, and 30 years of cat hair that I cannot.. no matter how many times I sweep and vacuum, seem to get all of. Of a place that doesn't smell of also 30 years of cat in general. A place where I feel safe. A place with a decent little fenced yard where the cats can go outside and not be terrorized by stray dogs. A place that's not on a main street, where I see the drug deals, and hear the arguments and gunfire. Melodramatic? Sadly no. It's not quite as often as it used to be thank goodness... but I am not home.
I love this house. But the cons are really tipping the scales. Nostalgia and attachment can only take me so far.
