I'm finally home.

Left Eminence, Kentucky on Monday afternoon, and pulled into Mesa at around 1am this morning. Not bad for having stopped for 5 hours to nap.. and for having made a side trip to explore a ghost town along the way. I have stories!

I really wish I knew what was wrong with me.

I should be doing the happy monkey dance that we had a good show, and that I arrived home safe, and that there is at least a tidy sum in my bank account. But all I'm feeling at the moment is lost, a bit ignored, and a heaping helping of melancholy. I don't get it either.

I at least managed to get a few good shots of the ghost town. Which was, by the way, fucking creepy. Not because of the expanse of abandoned buildings and remnants of a life long gone... but because of at least two of the remaining people who live near the town following me as I explored.   Not overtly mind you..   one was in his pickup truck, just slowly circling. Another on an ATV stopped to investigate my car like a wild animal.. slowing down and peering in.  Neither of them actually walked up to, you know, TALK to me.   All in all? Creepy.  And being a little white girl in the middle of nowhere New Mexico, with no large sharp weapons on me, I felt it prudent to leave.

Abandoned (Cuervo, New Mexico)

What does it matter?

This shot I took after heading the wrong way away from the ghost town ( Guy in the ATV and Guy in the Pickup were conveniently blocking the other route) .. and so I decided to head to the freeway via an opposite exit. I'm glad I did. Found an abandoned gas station that seemed to be where classic trucks go to die.

Relics

This was also where I met an extremely grumpy bull.  Not behind a fence.   I left before he got any ideas about my BRIGHT red car.

Adventure! Excitement! Cattle!

I need to go shake this mood I'm in.
