raise your hands.
Yup.. boy howdy did I.
Not nearly as bad as last year... not even close. But I still went a little over the limit.
Every year I like to get my parents something.. unique. Something that you can't find anywhere, and that I know they'll love. Something different.
Last year for Mom it was the Brother's Hildebrandt original painting that was used for the comic book adaptation of Dragonheart.
This year it was something for Dad. He's always been fascinated by military history, especially WWII. Granddad was a bit crazy and fought in both WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, so Dad's always been focused on those particular conflicts and the events surrounding, and the surviving memorabilia. I've found him tobacco tins, and cutlery kits, and even a WWII flight certificate ( at a thrift store no less.. of all places).
This year it's something a little different. I'm not sure how to accurately describe it, but it's basically a target that the Nazi soldiers used for firing practice. All wood with a hand painted center of an eagle diving towards the ocean, and German inscription all around the rim. It's different, and I have no idea how many are surviving. But I think he'll like it. I hope so.
And I'm dyeing my hair purple today.
