I know I was just in Portland... but I'm currently in Hollywood right now, for a couple of days..   Just got back from this amazing event..www.labyrinthmasquerade.com/

Clicky.

I am currently covered in glitter..and it looks like a drag queen has exploded in our hotel room.

I also filled my memory card on my camera...  That place was a photographer's wet dream.

Am very tired... have sooo many photos to go through and edit. I wore a ton of scalemail for the event and did a little networking. I made a couple of custom pieces just for this event.  Got a lot of compliments and photos taken... Business AND Pleasure!  It was a LOT of fun.

Driving BACK to Portland tomorrow.. then visiting friends before heading back down the coast ...stopping along the way to spend some time in the Redwoods... then stopping again to see Sara Jo.. and hopefully a couple of other people..  I do need to get back to Arizona and start doing mass production...    This trip was a little more expensive than I anticipated... but totally worth it.

Very, very tired..  but can't wait to get to editing photos.

Ok sleepy... but too excited to edit photos so I'm cranking through a few ...

This is the first one I really wanted to get to... some shots you are just NOT allowed to miss.  I also have ZERO experience doing candid shots of strangers..so this was fun.  Candid are so much harder than I thought they would be.. I'm loving the challenge..

"Dreaming"

I think it might be coming to the point where I should start setting money aside for a new camera. I love my little Canon Powershot S5IS... but it's only an 8 megapixel.. and doing evening shots I am getting a hell of a lot of noise. Plus..it's starting to develop some "quirks".  I would also ( again..I know I've said this before), like to start learning about what the hell I'm doing. There is still so much I am clueless about.  I see things from an artist's point of view... but .. I feel like a child. With the bright ideas in my head and nothing but grubby, uncoordinated hands grabbing for fistfuls of crayons and stabbing papers, hoping for a masterpiece to emerge.

And I STILL have no clue about where to even start with Photoshop.  There are tons of tutorials online...I just need to sit my butt down and learn. I have Photoshop Light...which should tide me over for awhile I would think.

Really...I'm going to sleep now. Honest.

Word. It's been even longer for me. Almost four I think.
Someday I'll be able to get around again though. First thing I do is head out to Cali and go visiting. I have coastie pals I haven't seen in a million years who have been bugging me for ages to go out there. And Jojo. And Rosa, the self proclaimed "biggest Beaner you're ever gonna see". I know so many women over six feet. Huh.

If you are in the market for a new camera the one thing to know is to not focus on megapixels, that is not what is giving any issue. After 5 megapixels, the untrained human eye can't really tell the difference unless it's blown up really large. What you want to look at is how much light the camera is getting into the lens. The more light that can get into the shutter without the flash, the better the picture will turn out. You may want to consider an HD camera or a DSLR camera. They are more expensive, but enable you to take better pictures.

I understand about the megapixels... but part of the reason that I wanted to go higher is because I have a feeling that I might be doing some larger prints of shots ( which might or might not tie into that... I'm uncertain).

I'm DEFINITELY going to need to get a DSLR. I'm not ready for an HD yet... but my little Canon point and shoot..as awesome as it is...still has a lot of limitations..and I'd like to step up and see what the hubbub is about. I know just from visual reference that DSLR's take much higher quality photos... which is what I would like to do. I've had some requests for prints done and I'm hesitant to do them because I'm not satisfied that their quality would be worth someone's money.
