Minor Rant
May. 6th, 2012 11:09 pmIf you send me Etsy messages asking what gauge of wire I'm using, and ask what kind of clasps I'm using for my pieces... it's kind of a given that you're not looking to purchase from me. No matter how many compliments you throw my way, it's still obvious that you're trying to rip off one of my designs..which is not appreciated in any way shape or form, no matter what the cliche' says. So... just don't.
Use your own goddamned imagination people.
( I did send a very politely worded email back to this person saying "Hey.. thanks for the messages.. but it sounds like you're working on your own project. Am I correct?").
I take these kinds of things seriously. Design theft is artistic rape. I use my imagination and personal taste to create the pieces I sell. The pieces I sell put food on my table, and pay my bills. Sometimes, just that. There are an infinite number of ways that you can put a piece together. Yes..I make chainmail for a living. Yes, there are a finite number of patterns that rings can go together...however.. what you do with those patterns... the possibilities are endless. So start creating..stop mimicking!
