Atrocities

An atrocity has been commited.. a crime of deep and devastating proportions.

7-11 is no longer carrying Darth Dew.

My world is over.

Now they have this squished frozen Smurf stuff from Fanta. I gave it a chance.. but it throws me no dice. If the stuff doesn't dye my tongue purple and make my heart skip after 3 sips then I want nothing to do with it. They gave me sweet diabetic loving and took it away. Heartless Bastards.
At least I can still get the nifty cups.

Grog and I escaped Phoenix finally.. if only for a day. Spontaneous and random road trips do wonders for the wanderlusting soul. And seeing trees. Lots of trees. Clicking and somewhat creepy trees at times. But trees all the same. Meandered up to Flagstaff and then onward to Sedona. Grog swore that REAL trees didn't grow in AZ and I'm the stubborn bint that has to prove him incorrect. Didn't set out until after midnight. Just feeling the temperature change as we headed out of the city was enough to make me breathe in relief. I haven't figured out if I hate cities or if they just rank in my "small doses" category. I didn't feel this way while living in New Orleans... but I suppose when you can't feel your face or form complete sentences because of the alcohol level in your system then nothing really matters. Perhaps it really is just Phoenix/Mesa. After seeing so much of the rest of the country.. I've come to the conclusion that Phoenix really is just a Cultural Wasteland with pockets of Hope sparsely scattered throughout. Hard to find and fucking precious, and often quickly dying .

We wandered through Flagstaff without a map or clue on where we wanted to go. Just driving. Destinations are a silly concept sometimes. I wanted to see stars.. and Grog wanted trees. We got even better than expected. Driving down Lake Mary Rd .. and the fog is deciding to be its foggy self .. and succeeding in its efforts to make me feel like the imminent victim in a B grade slasher film. Grog did his bit to help by making the appropriate spooky noises and telling obligatory ghost stories. We randomly picked one of the exits for Upper Mary Lake.. and stayed for approximately .3 seconds. After turning off the headlights, and being plunged into utter and complete black, and then seeing fog creep in. I have a fear that creatures live in the fog.. and pitch black is not our friend. Hence.. we leave. And drive randomly .. once again finding an exit to nowhere.. this time leading up a mountain.. and up.. and up. Finally pulling into the parking lot of the ONE place that I really hoped to see.. and didn't expect to. Lowell Observatory. Much rejoicing. Many Many Stars.. despite the fog. Stayed until the Bright Ball of Glowing Doom decided to rise from the east.. and breakfast was greatly needed. Denny's to the rescue.. and then a short and sweaty nap in the truck.

FunFact: Chevy s10's suck for sleeping in.

Woke up and started our random trekk again.. this time going in a Sedona-like direction. Many trees.. canyons.. crevasses. Stopped at a "Scenic View" . The sign did not lie.. it was scenic.. and we were able to see gold eagles flying as a pair. And the trees clicked at us some more.

Went on our merry way to see Sedona.. Tourist Trap of the Great Southwest. Last time I was there.. I remember seeing a river and having a snake slither its way behind me on the rock I was sitting on. This time I saw every type of resort and gift shop imaginable... a sea of Commerce. Weird. Very Weird. Wasn't too thrilled with it.. but the rocks were colorful and pretty with nice twisty shapes to them.. so it's mostly forgiven.

Reluctantly decided that we had to make our way back. I think we've both decided that Phoenix can go ahead and implode anytime now. I'm thinking that a smouldering crater might actually be an improvement.

On the way back stopped in Black Canyon City.. home of the friendliest strangers ever... but definately does not qualify for City status. Grog had walked into local market for a tasty beverage, and I followed soon afterwards. Soon as I walked in , friendly lady sitting in a chair by the entrance asked if I needed to know where anything was located... 2 minutes later while hunting the Grog.. a lady shopping asked me if I needed to know where anything was.. while waiting to check out in line,.. cashier went and checked the aisles for something that the biddy in front of us wanted.. Then the little old bird was very chatty and friendly. Nice feeling for a place that looks like a corner of forgotten Hell.

Returned home with brief stop at New Delhi..A.K.A. Yummy Indian food.. which plays Disco on the overhead. Oh yes..very pimp.

Sleeping in air conditioning was heaven.

I may have adopted another cat. Kitten actually. We have a new litter of feral kittens outside.. seems just as soon as I get a batch of cats spayed and neutered , more random cats show up. My fault because I can't not feed the monsters. So.. new litter of kittens.. now about 10 weeks old.. . We named them Mogwai, Heater, and Nook for their respective features.. Heater and Nook like to hide in said places.. and Mogwai looks ..well.. like a bleached gremlin. White and fluffy with huge ears and looking just slightly deformed. Ultimate cuteness. Came home the other day and found Mogwai in one of the orange trees. Picked him up ( the kittens are mostly used to people now) and found half of his head covered in.. (this is really really quite gross). pus. Covered. Took him inside and cleaned him up.. and found that he had puncture wounds on his head that had become horribly infected. I won't go into too much detail.. but let's just say that I spent a good half an hour draining all of the infection, dosing him with a little bit of amoxiciilin, and cleaning him up. He's living in quarantine for now in the second bathroom. The infection is still there.. but it's better than it was.. and he's a bouncy kitten so far. Except for the fact that he looks like he had a partial labotomy. Seems to be comfortable around people. We'll see how he goes. I'm afraid that I may be getting a wee bit attached already. Go me being a sucker.

I think this may be the longest entry that I have ever posted. And the most linear. Weirdness just abounds today.

Grog is SO going to regret letting me play Vampire: The Masquerade. Just wait.
