meccahiMaybe it's just me, and I'm being too sensitive.
Teh Job: We now have a new policy ( recently instated in the past few months) that vacation requests have to be put in 30 days in advance. I think it's a little whacky but what the hell. Now this isn't strictly enforced seeing as we have people taking off randomly and willy nilly for all sorts of reasons. Alot of them are valid. Alot of them are not.
So when I put in a vacation request 25 days in advance I wasn't expecting to get a Flaming E-mail of Doom from my department supervisor. But I did.. which basically stated " Once again (huh.. when did I do this before?) you have failed to give us proper notice on a vacation request. We're going to have to talk about this.
Errrrr. What? My last vacation request I put in 6 MONTHS in advance and they still managed to screw that up by trying to put me on the On-Call schedule. My first day of vacation I actually worked overtime because they "needed storm help".. which was complete BS as there were 7 people there already. We typically work with 5 or 6 during a storm.
The other part about this that irks me is that my shift has worked with 2 people for the past year, and we only recently added a 3rd person ( who may I say rock.. awesome person). So me leaving for a weekend shouldn't disrupt anyone's schedule. But now they want me to find "coverage" for the weekend I'm gone. Completely retarded.
The weekends have been exceptionally slow for the past couple of weeks. It's been nice. I started on a new drawing.. did some chainmail.. played with my feet. It was fun.
I'm going to try and keep the job as long as humanly possible, but I need to make some decisions soon seeing as Louisiana is coming up. I want to be there for the full run. It seems wrong that I'm not and I need to foster more recognition for the business. I also think I'm going to try for the Yuma show as well. Which is the weekend before AZ starts.. then I'd work the AZ show.. and I have no idea after that. That's where I get stumped. I want to be able to do this, and still keep my house, and still pay my bills.
Ponderings ponderings. I need to take more photos and get cracking on an inventory of designs and labeling and pricing. Maybe that's what I'll do today. Also need a memory card for my camera,.. which I have no idea how expensive they are.
In the mean time I think my morning should be spent cleaning and watching Ghosty type shows that I haven't seen yet. I found a really neat one on the ghosts of the London Underground. Makes me want to go back to London and prowl around. I just want to go back period. Had way too much fun there.
