That was unexpected.

My badge worked the door, so I'm still officially employed.

Logged in and checked my email. My supervisor sent me a reply to my two week notice, in essence saying "Uhhhh ok, bluff called, please don't leave" She "requests" ( and that's the first time I've heard her request something from me) a meeting on Monday morning "to discuss other options". She wants to "extend an offer to have me stay longer".

Well lady.. you pushed me into deciding to either leave or stay, and now that I've made my decision you decide you don't like it because you don't have enough people? Tough.

It was the most polite letter I've ever received from her. I'm a thinkin that the Owner and President might have had a meeting with her. Or not. Doesn't matter.

Should be an interesting Monday either way..

That's pretty rad! You called their bluff. From what you've told me about that place, you seem to be one of the few that actually works at and cares about your job. If you can pull off getting a few more weeks out of that place, you will be golden! Maybe they'll even start treating you guys a bit better. Either way, I'm sending happy Shelly-vibes in your direction and hope you have an awesome weekend! *hugs*

Here is the thing, she is throwing up the red flag, which means YOU now have the power.

Remember all that time off you want? Go after it. Tell them they want you to stay, you want more money and that time off. You have proven they need you more then you need them. Take advantage and beat them in to submission.

Unfortunately my work was not nearly smart enough to try and offer more money. The meeting basically went like this " you're leaving".. "yes I am.".. "can you stay longer?".. "nope".. "ok then..see ya".

I swear the woman is bi-polar. One minute she wants me there.. next she doesn't care if I'm gone. The place is going to implode upon itself anyways.. so I guess it doesn't matter as long as they pay me my accrued vacation pay and my next couple of paycheck. After that all is good and I'm done with the hellhole.

Listen to what she has to say, then make her listen to what you have to say and see where it gets you.

If you want to stay a bit longer, then stay, if you want to go, go. Seriously you have already done the hard part of putting in your two weeks.

Pad the poccket a bit if you want, but otherwise follow your heart. I offer up the caveat, while following my heart I had to eat alot of rice and beans, because I sure as hell wasn't going to eat anymore Ramen.

Heh.. I stocked up with a 10 lb bag of rice.. plus gads of pasta, and dried beans, and more types of rice.. and a truckload of frozen veggies. I figure I'll go broke but not hungry.

Hehe who's got the stick of power now!?!?

Oh yeah. Can't do the ramen anymore, either. Shudder.

I am gleeful for you... but a tad sorry for them. Mundanes just don't understand how important our other side of life is - whether it be fan, rennie, the Lifestyle.... what have you, to each his own. I pity them for missing out on all the joy and fun of it. Not too much, though. If everyone did it it wouldn't be alternative anymore!

And now thanks to you following your heart I spend much of my dead air time at work fantasising about, mentally stocking and decorating my Ethical/Fairtrade Bellydancing Boutique in Berlin. Not that I'll ever have one... but if I did there'd be chainmaille! And no cheap slave labour imports...

Or dog costumes.

But.. but.. EVERYONE will want the dog costumes!

And all I can think about it getting out of this idiotic corporate gig that I am square pegged to round hole.. and just doing what makes me happy . I'm voting everyone should do what they love..as long as it's not doing livestock or domestic pets. People are very very silly.

Heh.. yay for chainmail in Berlin.. if you ever do open a boutique I'll be happy to supply for chainmail spies.
